Stay for seat

I had thought how the seat is attached.
I changed the construction of the seat. Then I thought the way to install the seat should be changed. At first I made some parts.

By tacking, we can made same parts easily.


Then I made stay. The construction is same to steering axle.

Next I weld small parts to the frame of the seat. I had mistake which the width was too wide.

Taking this side is better, I think.

The small parts for rear frame of the seat were welded like this.

I need making the parts to adjust the angle of the seat.

Making seat again

I made narrow seat from iron pipes.

I tried to weld with sitting. That's good solution to be stable for welding. I'm not going to attach iron sheet on the seat. I think that it's covered by the cloth and some cushion is put on it. I may get the other idea.

Welding seat

The edges of tubes used backside were cut like this.

Then tacking. Check the balance and adjust it. Then welding.

Done.
It is to wider than last my seat built from iron seat. If the width is narrow, the frame touches my back. It may cause pain.
Today I looked for mesh cloth and narrow rope which is used sky diving. But I couldn't get better idea.

Attached BB shell

At first I made stays for it.

This time, front wheel's over lock nut length 135mm. And I put on chain wheel for road. So the chain line is problem.
By the over lock nut length extend 5mm from road's, rear cassette sprocket moves to out side 2.5mm from the center.
So double chain wheel(road)'s chain line is 43.5mm. I think as the front chain line ,43.5+2.5 mm is good. I moved BB shell'center 2.5mm from the center line. That means the front wheel chain line is 46mm.
Then tacking, welding.

The front and center-rear part were connected. The center line is so so. I need a little filling to adjust.

I bent 2 tubes for new seat. The diameter 16mm.

next, I finish new seat and I make some parts to attach the seat.

Making front part

The front part is made again.

I have tried different construction with last one.

The boss for disk brake is 30 mm.

Next time, I put BB shell on it.

Bending seat frame

Before, I made the frame of seat from iron sheet which thickness is 1.0 mm. But after riding 1600 km, I got first its breaking. Then after 3700 km, I got it again. Thin iron sheet is repaired easily, but such problem often happens.
So I decided changing the construction of the sheet.

I bent iron tubes which diameter is 12 mm.

I used pipe bender.


I made large curve by bending a little at many points.
I have to wait left material arriving.
I made two spacer for front part.

Then I observed my second python. I found two things to improve.

This is one of the edge of handle. It easy to get the rust. The shift lever should be moved.

This is stay for seat. I don't know what's the white staff. It can be sawn only here. It isn't easy to make this part. I better change the construction.

Building rear and center parts

This time, I made a hole to pass garbage through.

Then, cramped them along the drawing.

I use thick iron plate under the MDF board.

Tacked.

Welded.

Next I made the edges.

The hole is covered iron plate.

The plate comes from crushed parts. I can see my welded part from the inside of the tube.
I attached center part to rear part.

The steering plate was welded.

Checking vertical.

Welded. But vertical line wasn't kept.

Today's last shot.

I think the steering plate should be welded when all parts are combined. We did learn it when we read the construction of python. But I forget it this time.

Rebooting making my 4th python

I decided rebooting my plan of making my 4th python.
Today I started doing it. I cut some parts for using again.

I had a mistake of drilling. I often have such mistakes. Keeping doing is useful to avoid such mistake.

Making stay for seat

I made the other stay.

Tacked then I took off and welded it.

Then it was put on the main frame again.
The welded.

This way isn't good. The stay wasn't horizontal.
I tapped these stays.

Then the seat attached.

But, I sit down the seat. The frame of the seat bent.....
This seat isn't comfortable in summer. So I should make the other style of seat for my python.
At least I got the idea about the place of handle.
Before that.
I noticed the rare wheel wasn't vertical.

Maybe because of the welding steering box. It's hard to repair it.
I cut the main frame, then twisted them a little and welded.


I made stay for the handle. Cut the rectangular and circle tube.


Then they were welded.


Cleaned.

Then I made handle cover.

The stay for handle is welded front part. This and handle cover cramp the handle.

The seat is broken. The frame bent and the parallel balance isn't good. The seat is my first seat. I didn't understand the importance of precise working.
I should make the other style seat. Coz this seat isn't comfortable in summer.
